A Church Your Grandmother Would Love
We
would like to invite you to Faith Baptist Church. Our church services are very
different from most of the new churches in Southern California. The main part
of the service is dedicated to hearing a sermon from the Bible. While the word
"sermon" has a negative connotation to many people, when done in the
right way, a sermon is anything but dull or boring. You are listening to a
trained pastor teach you from the Bible. The Bible is God’s word to us. It
explains things we could never know or find out on our own. The Bible explains
to us what happens to people after they die and how a person can go to heaven.
It tells us who God is and why we need His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us. The
Bible answers life’s most important questions. There is no need to water down
the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is still preached here and it still changes
lives.
Our
church service also has music. Our music, however, may seem old fashioned to
some. We sing hymns out of a hymn book. There is a depth in hymns that have
stood the test of time that is not found in most of the market-driven
contemporary songs that churches use today. Hymns also provide an important
link with the past. We sing to the sounds of piano and organ as well as
violins, flute and other classical instruments. What are intentionally missing
in our church are snare drum sets and electric guitars. We desire to create an
atmosphere that is reverent, not noisy or frivolous. It may shock you to hear
that some people even dress up to come to our church and we don’t look down
upon them for doing so.
While
many churches try to mix entertainment with worship, we have seen that mixture
actually distracts from the true worship of God. True worship, unlike the
entertainment brand, is life changing. It can do more for you and your family
than anything else. Over the years we have watched little children as well as
teenagers respond very positively to our more "traditional" approach
of ministry. We don’t purposely try to be old fashioned, but over the years our
desire has been to offer what is the most honoring to God rather than what is
popular with people.
Faith
Baptist Church has just moved into a new building in Santa Ana. The Grand
Avenue Methodist Church is graciously allowing us to use their multi-purpose
building for our services. We invite you to come to our Sunday Morning Service.
And don’t forget to bring your grandmother too!
